Firstly, let's discuss what bespoke means. Bespoke is something you want your application to do that isn't normal functionality for the application.
Now, that's very broad and could be several things. Let me give you a few examples.
Example #1
You want a system that gives users reward points for completing tasks, such as completing their profile. However, you want a messaging system that allows users to transfer their reward coins to other users as a gift.
Example #2
You want an admin system that allows you to monitor users and grant permissions.
Example #3
You want a system to allow image and document uploads but also to share these documents depending on the permissions of users.
The possibilities are endless.
Now, you might be thinking you can download a plugin and add it to your website, there are lots of plugins out there and I'm sure you'd find one that suits your needs.
However, if you want to change the functionality of the plugin, you can't. Whereas with a bespoke system, you can have it work however you want - it's made just for you.
I'm sure we've all been on a website that's behaving... weird. Maybe the menu jumps around, or the scroll doesn't seem to work properly, or you click something and nothing happens. This is usually caused by plugins trying to perform tasks they simply aren't made for.
